Prevention Ambassadors

The Prevention Ambassador program is a peer-led initiative designed to train and empower undergraduate students to serve as campus leaders in sexual violence prevention. Prevention Ambassadors facilitate conversations, lead workshops, and foster consent-centered communities through education, outreach, and collaboration. This program supports the campus-wide goal of reducing and ultimately preventing sexual violence by building a culture rooted in consent, respect, healthy communication, and collective responsibility. 

 

Program Goals

The Prevention Ambassador program is designed to:

  1. Empower students to be proactive leaders in building a culture of consent and accountability. 
  2. Educate the campus community on consent, healthy relationships, bystander intervention, and boundary-setting. 
  3. Develop confident, informed student leaders through trauma-informed, inclusive, and evidence-based training. 
  4. Enhance campus culture by increasing awareness of available resources and promoting taking care of each other.

 

Position Overview

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate peer education workshops on consent, healthy relationships, bystander strategies, and boundaries. Each Prevention Ambassador must facilitate at least one training or presentation per semester.
  • Support and participate in campus-wide prevention campaigns (e.g., Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Denim Day, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, etc).
  • Represent the program at tabling events, campus & community collaborations, or other events as requested by the 1 is 2 Many Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with student groups, residence life, and campus departments to expand outreach.
  • Attend monthly team meetings and ongoing professional development sessions.
  • Hold two office hours per week in Student Union 211. Office hours should be spent preparing presentations/trainings. 
  • Serve as a nonjudgmental, resource-connected peer leader. Respond to disclosures of sexual violence appropriately and report as needed according to training. 

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled full-time in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026
  • Hold a 3.0 cumulative GPA at time of application and maintain through the 2025-2026 academic year
  • Passionate about creating a safer, more respectful, and consent-centered campus culture
  • Must attend training retreat on August 23 from 10:00 – 6:00 

Prevention Ambassadors should demonstrate ability to:

  • Communicate clearly and confidently with peers in both group and one-on-one settings
  • Facilitate discussions with empathy, openness, and curiosity
  • Collaborate effectively with students, staff, and campus partners
  • Represent 1 is 2 Many positively as a role model
  • Practice confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive or personal information
  • Manage time effectively, follow through on commitments, and be reliable 

Other details:

  • Prevention Ambassadors do not receive financial compensation, but trainings and external volunteer opportunities can be logged as service impacts in GivePulse 

  • Time Commitment: 8-10 hours per month (plus initial trainings)

  • Dates of Position: August 18, 2025 – May 8, 2026 (observed Fall, Winter, and Spring Breaks)
