Student Victim Advocates
Student Victim Advocates are student volunteers who assist with providing resources and support to students on campus who have been impacted by sexual violence. This important role allows students to serve other students through compassionate, kind, and confidential support.
Position Summary
Student Victim Advocates are available as a resource to students who have experienced sexual violence. Victims can visit with a Student Victim Advocate to learn about resources available on campus.
Student Victim Advocates will respond to calls between the overnight hours of 5:00pm – 8:00am during the week, as well as over the entire weekend (Friday at 5:00pm to Monday at 8:00am), along with University holiday closures and breaks. Their role will be to assist and support students that receive a SANE exam at Stillwater Medical Center, provide basic resources and support to students who call or text the advocate line, and refer students to a professional advocate for follow-up.

Requirements & Training
Mandatory training will be provided to ensure Student Victim Advocates are properly equipped to discuss the stated topics and can appropriately respond to students and the Cowboy community.
The requirements of this position are listed below:
- Full-time enrollment for Spring 2026 AND 2026-2027 academic year
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Regular availability to serve in an on-call rotation schedule, overnights and weekends (roughly 3-4 weekends a semester, 6-8 weeknights a month)
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position are listed below:
- Assist with outreach for the Victim Advocate program, volunteering at events and tabling opportunities to share about services.
- Attend mandatory, ongoing trainings and meetings required for the role.
- Advocate for students impacted by sexual violence with care, empathy, and respect.
Application
Applications for 2026-2027 academic year are OPEN and are due March 1, 2026. Interviews will take place the week of March 9 - 13, 2026 and selected advocates will participate in onboarding training the week of March 23. New advocates will be trained in Spring 2026 to begin serving on-call in Fall 2026.
